Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (COI) team is
responsible for the full lifecycle of Microsoft’s cloud
infrastructure, spanning site selection, development, and
operations. Our global footprint includes more than 400 datacenters
in 34 countries, supported by over 165,000 miles of fiber optic
cable. These facilities form the backbone of Microsoft Azure and
are central to our commitment to reliable, secure, and sustainable
digital infrastructure. As part of the COI Energy Analytics Team,
you will join a team of professionals responsible for building the
data platforms and business insights to enable the Energy team to
advance Microsoft’s datacenter operations, growth, and
sustainability programs to solidify Microsoft’s leadership in
providing infrastructure for the global AI economy. An astute and

to deliver impact. Microsoft Cloud Operations & Innovation
(CO&I) seeks a new Director, Energy Portfolio Analytics focused
on leading a team responsible for delivering the business analytics
and actionable insights related to load and resource planning, our
obligations to the grid and our partners, and energy market
dynamics required to operate and scale one of the world’s largest
corporate energy portfolios. A successful candidate will have
experience leading high-performing teams and a strong understanding
of the utility industry, large load energy management, resource
planning, and electricity market structures. They will have the
ability to identify and solve problems, collaborate with
cross-functional leaders to drive scalable solutions. They will
bring an innovative, collaborative presence to the role to enable
energy analytics to scale with confidence and responsibly grow our
portfolio. This role will be required to lead a high impact team
that develops strategies and collaborates with internal partners to
advance Microsoft’s energy and data center infrastructure.

Program Management: Collaborates across large internal
cross-functional organization to support analysis required for
data-driven decisions within the energy value-chain, defining
processes and governance for managing partnerships, holding teams
accountable for process and policy compliance, influencing near-
and long-term sourcing decisions with impact across organizations,
and promoting alignment between the Energy Team and Finance are
aligned to ensure continuity of supply . Empowers teams to
proactively address issues related to security measures and
practices in governance and partnership activities. Load and
Resource Planning: Leads development and maintenance of analyses
and managed content to support reporting and planning of our global
data center portfolio, contracted resources, and commitment to
responsible growth. Market Intelligence and Rates: Leads
development and maintenance of analyses and managed content related
to industry trends, data services, and commodity markets.
Benchmarks and Metrics: Leads the development and implementation of
standardized methods and processes that support data collection,
validation, and evaluation of operating characteristics, realized
costs, and forecasts in pursuit of continuous improvement.
Qualifications Required Qualifications: Masters degree in Business,
Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Materials Science, or related
field AND 6 years experience in procurement, supply chain,
sourcing, engineering, operations, or relevant sales-related roles
OR Bachelors degree in Business, Supply Chain Management,
Engineering, Materials Science, or related field AND 8 years
experience in procurement, supply chain, sourcing, engineering,
operations, or relevant sales-related roles OR equivalent
experience. Other Requirements: Ability to meet Microsoft, customer
and/or government security screening requirements are required for
this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the
following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud
Background Check: This position will be required to pass the
Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two
years thereafter. Preferred Qualifications: Doctorate in Business,
Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Materials Science, or related
field AND 5 years experience in energy procurement, supply chain,
sourcing, engineering, or operations, or OR Masters degree in
Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Materials Science,
or related field AND 8 years experience in energy procurement,
supply chain, sourcing, engineering, or operations, OR Bachelors
degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Materials
Science, or related field AND 12 years experience in procurement,
supply chain, sourcing, engineering, or operations, OR equivalent
experience. 7 years of people management experience. 7 years of
experience in energy infrastructure delivery for a data center or
large energy consumer with global responsibilities. 7 years direct
experience with utility long-range planning, production cost
modeling, load research or ratemaking. 7 years direct experience in
data science or statistical modeling. Sourcing Engineering M5 - The
typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD
$139,900 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable
to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and
New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this
role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.
