Job Description
Demonstrated ability to work safely in an industrial environment
paper and pulp mill operating 24 hours per day 7 days/week.
Function as a team member of the electrical and instrumentation
shop in a union environment. Perform routine breakdown and
preventive maintenance which includes inspection and repair of
plant electrical switchgear, motor control centers,
machinery/mechanisms, manufacturing and/or facilities related
equipment. Perform breakdown maintenance by troubleshooting,
repairing and documenting maintenance procedures. May interact with
management, engineering and vendors regarding new
machinery/equipment selection, specifications, and set-up.
Education/Experience:
Must have Electrical Journeyman license, valid in Washington
State.
Demonstrated technical aptitude and experience working in a heavy
industry environment (Pulp and Paper, Oil and Gas, Foundry, etc.)
preferred.
Ideal candidate will have 5 - 10 years of experience or equivalent
education in heavy industry environment.
Technical Skills:
Must have ability to interpret schematic drawings, diagrams and
printed instructions to assist in troubleshooting and resolving
electrical/mechanical problems on plant machinery, manufacturing
and/or facilities related equipment. Must have knowledge of the
operation and troubleshooting of VFDs.
Adheres to all corporate and department safety guidelines and
procedures. Attends safety training classes to keep current.
Understanding of NFPA 70E requirements.
Troubleshoots electrical problems including, but not limited to:
PLC systems, DCS systems (desired), VFDs, power circuits, relay
logic systems, etc.
Moves, relocates and installs plant machinery, manufacturing and/or
facilities related equipment. Ability to read and understand
electrical prints.
Assists in the rebuild/repair of plant MCCs, switchgear,
manufacturing and facilities related equipment. Experience working
with medium voltage is desired.
Documents modifications, repair, set-ups, maintenance, PM and
safety procedures to ensure reliability, quality control and
improve overall operation of equipment.
Actively participates and contributes to machine and process
improvements.
Recommends and may be involved in minor systems modifications under
the direction of management and engineering.
Ensures the working area, tools and equipment are maintained in a
clean, organized and safe manner.
Actively supports all environmental and recycling efforts including
the disposal of hazardous materials.
Recommends spare parts for inventory to provide equipment
reliability.
Ability to perform duties in an ERT (emergency response team).
Computer skills required.
Performs additional duties as requested. Interpersonal Skills:
Strong and effective communication and interpersonal skills -
proactive nature, with a proven track record of working with
others. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work either independently or as part of a
multi-disciplinary team to achieve results and meet project
schedules.
Demonstrates initiative and is self-directed, anticipating needs
and suggesting improvements.
Excellent problem-solving skills with a strong teamwork style and a
passion for achieving goals. Able to manage competing and fluid
priorities.
Interface effectively with operational, maintenance and management
personnel to assure continuity of efforts.
Must be able to maintain confidentiality and conduct work with high
level of professionalism. How you will impact WestRock: Applicants

experience and education and those hired will be eligible to
participate in a tiered system for pay according to the proficiency
of these skills. All hired Electricians will be expected to
participate in a rotating shift support role running the mill 24/7,
but will also be presented the opportunity to work a day shift
schedule when positions become available. Required to join the IBEW
Local Union 76 and pay membership/working dues on a monthly basis.
