Job Summary:A Traffic Safety Technician (TST) 1 will perform a wide
range of traffic control and flagging tasks to provide safety and
support to our contractors on job sites or public/private
roadways.Duties / Responsibilities:The Traffic Safety Technician
(TST) should:Use hand signals and direction signs to direct traffic
around road constructions sitesCommunicate with other TSTs using
hand-held radios to direct two-way traffic onto a single laneInform
the construction crew of any traffic issues that may affect their
safetyAppropriately position warning and detour signs around
construction sitesSet up barricades and traffic cones along
construction sites to cordon off certain areasRemove all signs,
barricades, and traffic cones upon completion of construction
workPerform other related duties as assigned
Requirements:
The Traffic Safety Technician (TST) should have:Required Skills /
Abilities:Ability to listen to, understand, and follow
directionsAbility to remain flexible as specific assignments
changeAbility to work with a variety of personalitiesAbility to
work under pressureUnderstanding of basic flagging policies,
procedures, rules, and state and federal lawsCertificates,
Licenses, Registrations:State valid flagging certification
cardValid driver's license, to operate company
equipment/vehiclePhysical Requirements:Key: Rarely (0-20%),
Occasionally (21-50%), Frequently (51-80%), and Continuously
(81-%)Continuously standing, walking (frequently on uneven
surfaces)Frequently bending/stoopingRarely crawlingFrequently
repetitive motion of hands/wristsOccasionally kneelingOccasionally
climbingContinuously graspingFrequently push, pull, lift and carry
up to 50 lbsWork EnvironmentThis position generally requires 8
hours a day, if not sometimes more depending on the project. The
workweek is Monday-Friday and occasionally on weekends/nights
depending on the project. This position requires work in the
outdoors in all types of weather. It involves walking, standing,
bending, and possibly stooping for extended periods, as well as
carrying and lifting heavy objects. The location of this position
