GENERAL STATEMENT:

SCOPE OF POSITION:
Responsible for researching, inquiring about, and preparing grant
proposals to meet the needs of the Salvation Army of Tacoma. In
addition, the Grants and Compliance Manger is responsible for
compliance, reporting and billing related to contracts.
Grant Writer General Duties and Responsibilities:
- In cooperation with Business Operations Manager and Officers,
creates funding plans based on the
specific needs of The Salvation Army of Tacoma.
- Write, submit, and manage the grant proposal process including
but not limited to, government contracts and private foundations.
This includes preparing presentation materials and contract
amendments/renewals and organizing and obtaining all materials
needed for a complete and timely submittal as well as current legal
documentation, certifications, licenses, insurance certificates and
other documentation.
- Serve as the primary contact for program managers, providers,
and leadership for all tasks relating to funding opportunities for
all Tacoma Salvation Army programs.
- Serve as project coordinator for post-award reporting
requirements, ensure contract and reporting for all contracts in
partnership with Data, Accounting, and Program staff.
- Research and identify relevant sources of grant/contract
funding opportunities for the organization that align with the
agency's goals and missions, projects, and objectives.
- Develop and maintain productive relationships with agency
contacts and collaborate with key stakeholders.
- Conduct research on issues and community needs that align with
the Salvation Army of Tacoma's mission, priorities, and projects to
support the need communicated in LOI's and proposals.
- Prepare and update government funding pipelines for Tacoma
Salvation Army programs by tracking RFPs and NOFAs, application
submittals and awards by amounts, dates, and purposes.
- Submit grants and contracts to DHQ for legal review, processing
and approval through TSAMM. Works with Property and Finance Manager
to track grant-funded expenses and monitor budget compliance.
- Submits invoices for grant reimbursement.
- Prepares and maintains Grants, Contracts, and MOU's
notebooks.
- Leads weekly Compliance Committee meetings.
- Performs other duties, including Christmas duties, as assigned.
Compliance General Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversees the compliance of all grants, contracts, and MOUs for
the Tacoma Salvation Army.
- Ensure contract compliance requirements are met and will serve
as internal liaison to program staff in their roles as they relate
to grant compliance.
- Review all contracts, grants and MOUs and serve as the internal
expert on grant compliance for the Tacoma Salvation Army.
- Oversees all grants, contracts, and MOUs and ensure all are
consistently aligned with program budget throughout the
grant/funding period.
- Works with DHQ Finance staff to create proper source coding for
funding awards.
- Work with Program staff to develop and implement processes to
ensure grant compliance.
- Design and execute monitoring processes, including conducting
file audits, assessments and documenting results and analyzing data
trends.
- Maintains documentation of all contracts, grants, and MOUs in
collaboration with the program and business staff.
- Identify potential areas of compliance risk factures; remain
abreast of all compliance changes, activities and identify trends;
communicate appropriately with staff concerning policies,
procedures, and updates.
- Work with the Property and Finance Manager as well as the DHQ
Finance Department to maintain contracts, grants, MOUs, expense
budgets and analysis accounting to ensure accuracy.
- Provide compliance update reports to Compliance Committee
and/or appropriate staff as directed or requested.
- Serves as liaison between granting entity and the Tacoma
Salvation Army.
- Participate in staff meetings and development activities.
- Performs other duties, including Christmas duties, as directed
by supervisor. Education and Work Experience:
- Grant Writing Certification and 1 year of experience or
- 2 or more years of Grant Writing experience Skills:
- Microsoft Office Suite
- The ability to learn Salvation Army Accounting Software,
specifically TSAMM, as well as WellSky and
HMIS. Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and
twist on an intermittent or continuous basis.
- Ability to operate a desktop or laptop computer.
- Ability to lift of up 25 pounds.
