This position assists with front desk duties, monitoring safety and security of artwork, installations/deinstallations, and performs related clerical support functions under the direction of the Gallery Director and Dean for Creative Arts, Literature, and Communication.
  Essential Functions
  
  • Assists with front desk duties including greeting visitors, answering the telephone, answering questions about the Gallery or artwork on exhibit, recording attendance, temperature and humidity levels, and sales of Gallery Shop items
  • Assists with creating a positive learning environment for students visiting the Gallery.
  • Performs general clerical duties such as typing gallery mailing lists and labels
  • Under the direction of the Gallery Director, assists with exhibit installations and deinstallations. This may include assisting with light wall repair (patching and painting), changing light bulbs and adjusting light fixtures, moving art work from one location to another within the building, assisting with receiving and releasing art work
  • Assists with Gallery Receptions and other events
  • Assists with condition reporting and care of the Washington State Public Art Collection on campus
    Qualifications
    Minimum Qualifications:
    
    • High school graduation or equivalent
      Preferred Qualifications:
      
      • Knowledge of art and gallery experience is desirable
        Conditions of Employment:
        
        • Successful completion of a criminal history background check prior to employment
        • Must be able to climb up and down ladders up to 12 feet tall
        • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds The Successful Candidate Must Demonstrate

            This part-time hourly position is bound by the WAC 357-04-045 provisions above. This position is scheduled to work varied hours from 5 - 10 hours per week but will vary depending on exhibits and receptions scheduled. Flexibility in scheduling is required to meet the needs of the program. The rate of pay for the position is $20.00 per hour.
