The International Foster Care Program provides foster care to refugee/asylee and undocumented youth from countries around the world.

The House Coordinator is expected to work at the Young Adult Transitional Living Program at Lee Haven House. This is a part-time position at Tuesday, Wednesday, 5PM-10PM, 10 hours per week plus 1-2 rotating Saturday per month. On-call hours are also available to provide coverage to staff on other evenings when needed. Saturdays can sometimes be switched with staff on other shifts to provide flexibility. The Young Adult Transitional Living program is offered as a Supervised Independent Living (SIL) placement option available through International Foster Care (IFC). The program accommodates and provides services for up to 6 young adult males between the ages of 18 to 21 years. The House Monitor will assist immigrant and refugee youth transitioning out of foster care by providing homework help and other services as needed. All program participants are studying or employed, have independent living plans, and a case manager. The House Monitor will help facilitate a positive and productive living environment by working with program participants and case management staff to assist youth in their transition out of foster care and eventually into fully independent living.

* Minimum Qualifications
* AA degree or two years of college study in social/human services, or relevant field.
* Ability to work well with diverse populations.
* Two years of work experience in social services
* Strong organization, communication, and interpersonal skills
* Knowledge of computer skills.
* Applicant must successfully pass required background checks prior to an offer of employment.
* Must have reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and automobile insurance.
* Must have an acceptable driving record per CCS' driving policy.(required to provide current driving abstract)
* Proof of negative TB test upon hire or proof of test within past 12 months.
* First/Aid CPR certified or the ability to become certified within the 1 month of employment

* Preferred Qualifications
* BA/BS in social work or related field.
* Bi-Lingual or Multi-lingual in a language commonly spoken by refugees and immigrants.
* Two years cross-cultural experience.
* Experience working with refugee and immigrant populations.
* Knowledge of shared living dynamics and conflict resolution
* Assist participants (as needed) in their transition from foster care to the transitional living program. Help residents build life skills by providing extra support as an onsite staff member and part of service team, for example demonstrating and/or guiding participants with use of appliances, answering questions about bus stop location/fees, connecting to Wifi, providing safety information/guidance on emergency evacuation, use of fire extinguisher, and other public and house safety concerns, etc.).
* Educate residents and ensure compliance on the program policies, rules and expectations.
* Complete entrance and exit checklist with each resident.
* Help facilitate an environment that encourages residents to meet their Independent Living Plan goals.
* Conduct weekly required house meetings which are designed to allow residents to express feelings or concerns in a constructive manner.
* Provide homework help for residents requesting this service in ESL, remedial Math, or basic science. Provide referrals for further academic support if needed.
* Build relationships with residents and assist them in developing positive relationships with each other.
* Coordinate with Case Manager and IL Coordinator as needed on Independent Living Plans. Attend regularly scheduled meetings with service team.
* Keep track of resident occupancy, issue and track keys, and combination locks.
* Keep track of assigned house chores and duties, and assure personal items are stored securely in designated lockers and cabinets.
* Hold residents accountable for behavior which violates program policy and/or rules.
* Document incidents, policy or house rules violations.
* Maintain and track house inventory.
* Be familiar with local community resources and provide referrals.
* Assure all residents are aware of fire and emergency evacuation plans. Assure sidewalks surrounding the premises are free and clear of all obstructions.
* Report back to Program Manager on maintenance concerns, concerns with day-to-day operations, and programmatic issues.
* Other duties as assigned.
