Serving Tacoma, Gig Harbor, the Key Peninsula, online students and the women's prisons, TCC educates about 11,000 students annually. Many TCC students are the first in their families to attend college, 58 percent receive financial aid, 13 percent have children, 42 percent are students of color, and 48 percent work while attending school. TCC has multiple campuses: the main campus is in Tacoma, another is in Gig Harbor, and two additional sites are maintained at the Washington Corrections Centers for Women. Position SummaryThis position will support the eLearning Department. This position will provide customer service, day-to-day technical support, and assist TCC staff and students with their requests and questions. This position also provides Help Desk support under the direction of the eLearning Help Desk Specialist and eLearning Support Specialist. Essential Functions Collaborate with other eLearning part-time and work study staff to complete assigned projects. Provide technical support to faculty, students, and staff in person at the Information Commons help desk and via the help desk telephone. Respond and resolve eLearning support tickets that have been submitted through the ticketing system. Provide excellent customer service to all visitors: students, staff and faculty. Administer and train faculty, students, and staff on the learning management system (e.g., Canvas). Reset student passwords in the MyTCC Portal and submit student account reset requests to the State Board customer support team. Use equipment checkout/return software to process checkout and return of Information Commons equipment and train work study staff on the use of the software. Create step-by-step screenshot tutorials and videos. Demonstrate proper use of multimedia equipment to faculty, students, and staff and assist with setup of multimedia equipment as needed. Maintain regular attendance and punctuality with agreed upon work schedule and enter hours on the timesheet and scheduling software. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications High School graduation or equivalent. Experience with audio and video equipment (such as video cameras, still cameras, microphones). Intermediate experience in Microsoft Office programs. Preferred Qualifications Associates degree or higher from an accredited college or university. Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office programs. Conditions of Employment Successful completion of a criminal history background check. Terms of Employment This is a part-time hourly position scheduled to work up to 17 hours per week. Scheduled to work Monday-Saturday. The specific schedule worked out based on need at the Information Commons Help Desk and the candidate's schedule availability. The pay rate is $14.49 per hour. Flexibility in scheduling is required to meet the needs of the department. A collective bargaining agreement exists and membership in the Washington Federation of State Employees or payment of a service fee may be required.
