Responsibilities:
This job is a three-year grant-funded position designed to
coordinate food systems to address food insecurity in Virginia
Mason Franciscan Health (VMFH) communities. - Work is performed in
accordance with the grant framework and established desired
outcomes, but with latitude to develop specific VMFH guidelines and
initiatives for customized local implementation. - An incumbent
creates partnerships with local food banks and food system
providers to increase access to healthy, culturally-relevant food.
- Work also includes: 1) sponsoring Supplemental Nutrition
Assistance Program (SNAP) enrollment events; 2) creating referrals
to food delivery programs: 3) supporting culturally-relevant food
bank focus groups; 4) -working with internal VMFH departments on
programs that address chronic disease and food recovery; and 5)
assuring conformance with grant provisions and requirements. -
-Essential Functions:Increases access to medically-tailored food
and medically-tailored grocery boxes through local food banks. -
Connects hospital system food waste to local feeding
programs.Increases access to culturally-relevant food in food banks
and supports changes to make food banks more inclusive. Leads and
supports activities to expand SNAP program eligibility and
participation
Qualifications:
Education/Work Experience RequirementsAny combination of experience
and education that would demonstrate attainment of the requisite
job knowledge/abilities for successful job performance. Registered
Dietitian is preferred.
