Description:The main responsibilities of a millwright are to keep the mill running, fix any break down, and maintain machinery to prevent break down. In addition, millwrights may work on larger projects such as repairing and maintaining cylinders, belts, conveyors, chains, motors, and valves, and fabricating new equipment.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPractices safe behavior at all timesFixes and maintains machineryCompletes welding where necessaryProvides carpentry work where neededPerforms preventative maintenance on machinesMaintains good housekeepingReads blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work proceduresDismantles machinesMoves machinery and equipmentAssembles and installs equipment such as shafting, and conveyorsConstructs foundation for machinesAligns machines and equipmentAssembles machines, and bolts, welds, rivets, or otherwise fastens them to foundation or other structures.Repairs and lubricates machines and equipmentOther duties as assigned.Requirements:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather) and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
