Summary

The Senior Quality Assurance Inspector supports and takes direction from QA Manager/Supervisor and uses the proven techniques for quality inspection. The quality inspector evaluates hardware documentation, performs laboratory procedures, inspects products, measures process performance, records data, and prepares formal reports.

Responsibilities

- Perform final, in-process and first article inspection of parts/material per AS9102

- Prepare certifications and reports

- Ability to use inspection hand tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gages, etc.

- Basic understanding of engineering drawings

- Ability to understand and interpret material and process specifications

- Inspection may include the maneuvering and of lifting heavy or awkward items

- Flexibility to work day or swing shift

- Basic math skills and computer software proficiency (i.e., Visual, Excel, Word)

- Organizational and communication skills

- Select and print appropriate test reports, certifications, and bar code labels, which include the generation of test reports to each specific purchase order. Generate test reports, labels, and certifications

- Ability to create & complete NCMs

- Work with QA Manager or designee to perform internal audits on quality systems and procedures

- Perform first article tool inspections and sign off on tool for production per AS9102

- Perform annual audit of quality delegates

- Lead internal auditing teams and manage corrective actions/timelines

- Manage Certified Tool List and assist with contacting customer for source tool inspections

- Review data packs for accuracy and release shipments

- Collaborates and supports continuous improvements that increases organizational clarity and process improvement

- Train and sign off on new quality delegates

- Review and analyze test and SPC data using SPC tools, spreadsheets and other programs as required

Aptitude and willingness to learn the following

Understanding and use of statistical methods

Understanding geometric dimensioning and tolerance

Assist in outside supplier audits and source inspections

Education, Skills and Certifications

Desire 5+ years' experience that includes blueprint reading and comparing parts and assemblies to customer requirements

Experience with CAD

Organizational skills; accurate data collection, storage and retrieval

Clear understanding of material identification, control and traceability

Ability to select and use proper inspection tools

Ability to identify, define and describe non-conformances or defects

Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment

Ability to learn and use quality ERP system

Experience in manufacturing of parts for aerospace or defense

ASQ certification or a willingness to obtain certification

A minimum of 3 years as Advanced Quality Inspector (or equivalent) and certified as CQIA, CQPA

Review and analyze test and SPC data using SPC tools, spreadsheets and other programs as required
