Responsibilities

Franciscan Medical Group, part of Virginia Mason Franciscan Health, is currently seeking a Provider On-boarding Specialist for our Physician Services Team! This position is full time, Monday through Friday with no weekends, nights or organizationally recognized holidays required. Flexible hours, competitive pay and an excellent benefits package!

 

JOB SUMMARY:


The Physician/Provider Employment Specialist (PPES) is responsible for planning, developing and implementing effective Physician and Provider pre-employment, on-boarding, orientation and employment satisfaction and retention initiatives. He or she will be responsible for facilitating all matters related to a clinician’s employment from the point of offer through the clinician’s first six months of employment. This position will oversee the alignment of recruitment, on-boarding, orientation and retention objectives and activities for physicians/providers to support the strategic direction of the organization. This position will ensure that Franciscan Medical Group’s primary and specialty care clinicians receive timely and comprehensive orientation, education and training activities, as well as provide support designed to promote physician/provider satisfaction and retention. The PPES will serve as a central point of contact for physicians and clinician’s employment related matters to include visa extensions, retention initiatives, and facilitating resolution to other retention or satisfaction related issues in conjunction with the responsible Human Resources Manager and/or HR Director.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Manages the physician/provider on-boarding/employment process from the point of offer /employment agreement through the first six months of employment. This includes, but is not limited to the following: coordinating the transition from recruitment to pre-employment; coordinating legal assistance on immigration waivers; coordinating legal assistance with employment contract revisions; assisting with relocation, compensation, starting bonuses, notes payable and asset purchase agreements.
  • Designs and oversees on-boarding and orientation activities tailored to clinic and clinician’s mutual needs including: Pre-employment documents, travel arrangements, site visits and related activities. Responds to inquiries related to the terms and conditions of employment. May also participate in the process of medical practice acquisitions.
  • Facilitates contract change and renewals for both FMG and Franciscan Health System physicians and providers in collaboration with the responsible Human Resources Manager and/or HR Director. Complies with appropriate policies in partnership with Legal Services. Understands and can speak to clinician compensation model, appropriate surveys/benchmarks and tools.
  • Coordinates and facilitates communication with all stakeholders involved in medical staff pre-employment, orientation and training to create a seamless, consistent, positive experience for the new clinician. Includes: coordinating with regional and clinic leadership to prepare staff and facilities; scheduling training and education sessions; promoting a welcoming atmosphere; coordinating systems and technology access; facilitating mentor relationship; identifying community resources (housing, schools, employment, etc.), securing other “welcome” resources and communications for clinician and/or family. Acts as the liaison with Franciscan Health System and FMG Marketing to facilitate the orientation and resolution of any other issues during the on-boarding process of physicians and providers to hospital facilities and service lines.
  • Identifies, supports and helps to design resolution to issues related to physician or provider satisfaction or retention; recommends methods to improve and streamline related processes; subject matter expert in relation to specific clinician employment needs. Facilitates resolution of employee relations issues for clinicians in this on-boarding process in collaboration with the responsible Human Resources Manager.
  • Supports retention of physicians and providers by maintaining contact periodically throughout practitioner’s contract, contacting recruited practitioner at least twice yearly to ascertain satisfaction and assist in identifying areas where dissatisfaction may be an issue.
  • Manages the New Physician/Provider Mentorship Program. Coordinates events to give new clinicians opportunities to socialize and network.
  • Reports data related to defined metrics used by leadership to inform medical staff employment strategy. Analyzes data to identify process gaps and performance triggers that require attention. Conducts evaluations of the process. Communicates status and progress as required. Performs related duties as required.

Qualifications

Education/ Work Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in business administration, marketing, human resources or healthcare administration or related field is strongly preferred; relevant experience may be substituted for degree.
  • At least three years of experience working with physician recruitment or human resources is required.

 

Licensure/Certifications:

  • Current driver’s license valid in the state of Washington is required or other evidence of equivalent mobility.
