Job Description:
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery,
and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words,
we're the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS
data centers and all the servers, storage, networking, power, and
cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access
to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging
problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain —
and we're looking for talented people who want to help. Data Center
Learning (DCL) provides technical training and learning resources
to the 20,000 member Data Center Community (DCC), enabling builders
to develop the skills needed to operate and maintain AWS's global
data center infrastructure. We're seeking a strategic and
experienced Technical Program Manager to serve as Business
Operations Manager for Data Center Learning, reporting directly to
the Sr. Manager of Data Center Learning. The Business Operations
Manager will drive operational excellence across DCL by
establishing and managing our business rhythm, partnering with
finance and cross-functional teams, and leading strategic
initiatives that enable DCL to scale training delivery and impact.
This role requires deep technical fluency to effectively manage
programs spanning domains from electrical systems, mechanical
infrastructure, IT hardware operations, and safety and security
procedures. This role requires someone who can balance strategic
thinking with tactical execution, navigate ambiguity with
confidence, and build transparent relationships across diverse
stakeholder groups. The optimal candidate is an experienced and
engaging professional who excels within an entrepreneurial culture
providing vision, leadership, and communication while diving deep
into details and taking ownership. You must be able to understand
and translate complex technical requirements from subject matter
experts across DCC teams into actionable business plans and
resource allocations. You should be approachable yet consultative,
offering direction and recommendations while fostering transparent
relationships. The ideal candidate balances frugality with
creativity, approaches problem-solving with an emphasis on root
cause, and demonstrates bias for action in a fast-paced
environment. Key job responsibilities - Establish and own the
end-to-end business rhythm for Data Center Learning, incorporating
finance, DCC, and AWS Infrastructure activities. - Develop working
backward plans for business reviews including Quarterly Business
Reviews (QBRs), Operational Planning (OP) cycles, Monthly Business
Reviews (MBRs), and Weekly Business Reviews (WBRs). - Manage the
DCL business rhythm calendar, establishing a timeline of events
12-18 months in advance. - Oversee preparation for and facilitation
of monthly and quarterly business review meetings, highlighting
financial variances and performance against key initiatives. -
Steward the annual planning process, forums, and commitment
establishment. - Manage DCL goals and commitments, driving timely
updates and developing monthly/quarterly review documents. -
Establish and maintain high standards for goal tracking and
reporting and maintain team reporting tools to track progress
against commitments. - Partner with finance to ensure accurate
headcount and budget reporting. - Review and analyze bottoms-up
headcount plans during OP cycles, making recommendations to adjust
plans when appropriate. - Manage department travel and expense
(T&E) and controllable line items within budget. - Own and
drive deployment of selected programs or initiatives as identified
by the Sr. Manager of Data Center Learning. - Partner with peers
across Data Center Learning to translate complex infrastructure
operations requirements into training program roadmaps and resource
plans. - Orchestrate complex, multi-stakeholder projects and manage
ambiguity across ad-hoc requests. - Drive data-driven decision
making by building dashboards and analytics that correlate training
completion rates, certification levels, and operational metrics
(incident rates, MTTR, availability targets). - Establish and
maintain robust project tracking systems and prioritization
frameworks. - Communicate at all levels, including with Executive
Management across Global Data Center Operations. A day in the life
You'll start your morning reviewing the latest training metrics and
preparing insights for the DCL leadership team, knowing that the
mechanisms you've built are empowering 20,000 builders across the
globe to safely operate the infrastructure that powers the world's
innovation. Mid-morning, you're facilitating a cross-functional
working session with learning designers, operations leaders, and
finance partners—bringing together brilliant minds to solve the
challenge of scaling technical training for emerging technologies
like generative AI infrastructure. After lunch, you're diving deep
into the operational planning cycle, partnering with your Sr.
Manager to shape the strategic roadmap that will define how DCL
evolves over the next 18 months, making bold recommendations that
balance ambition with operational reality. The afternoon brings an
exciting challenge: a critical initiative needs to launch in an
accelerated timeline, and you're the one orchestrating across
stakeholders, removing blockers, and driving toward a solution that
seemed impossible just hours ago. As you wrap up your day updating
the team wiki and prepping for tomorrow's QBR, you reflect on the
impact—every process you streamline, every goal you track, every
meeting you facilitate isn't just operational excellence, it's
enabling thousands of data center technicians and engineers to
build the skills they need to keep the cloud running and support
hundreds of millions of customers worldwide. You're not just
managing business operations; you're the force multiplier that
allows exceptional people to do their most important work, and
tomorrow brings another opportunity to raise the bar even higher.
