OL Reign (originally Seattle Reign FC) was established in 2012 as a founding member of the National Women's Soccer League. The ten-team NWSL (which will expand to twelve teams in 2022 with the addition of expansion clubs in Los Angeles and San Diego) is widely considered to be the most competitive women's professional soccer league in the world. Over its first eight seasons, OL Reign twice captured the NWSL Shield while making four appearances in the NWSL postseason. In 2019, the club was acquired by Olympique Lyonnais, one of Europe's most iconic football clubs. OL Reign plays its home matches at Cheney Stadium in Tacoma, Washington.

The Director of Human Resources is tasked with ensuring that a safe and equitable environment exists for all members of the OL Reign family, including its players, technical staff, front-office staff, academy staff, and academy players. The Director of HR will develop and direct all necessary policies and activities to support an optimal working, training, and playing environment that prioritizes the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of all members of the OL Reign family. This includes enhancing and overseeing all hiring and employee evaluation processes, leading OL Reign's diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives (including collaboration with third-party advisors and consultants), and ensuring legal compliance with all federal/state/local laws and full adherence to all rules and regulations of the National Women's Soccer League.


  • Collaborate with club leadership to transform the club's long-term strategy and objectives into policies and procedures supporting the club's staffing, recruiting, safety, and employee retention programs.
  • Develop and manage all human resource programs including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; and training and development.
  • Provide yearly training (directly or via third party) to members of the OL Reign family-including players-on workplace conduct, sexual harassment, diversity, and incident reporting procedures.
  • Manage relationship with outside legal counsel (related to employment matters).
  • Collaborate with NWSL team and league staff to develop and evolve a collective set of standards and best practices designed to enhance the employment experience at all teams.
  • Ensure compliance with all NWSL player and employee rules and requirements.
  • Oversee yearly performance evaluations for all club employees.
  • Oversee, and as appropriate, participate in employee discipline and termination actions.
  • Develop and execute best practices for hiring and talent management with a focus on developing diverse workforce.
  • Establish employment-related KPIs, including employee satisfaction, diversity, retention, and equitable compensation practices.
  • Conduct periodic surveys to identify issues and assess employee satisfaction; utilize data to inform KPIs; develop qualitative and quantitative analysis of collected data; brief club leadership on results and recommendations.
  • Monitor and ensure the club's compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations; recommended best practices; review and modify policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Track the industry evolution of best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; apply this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to club leadership.
  • Develop and manage yearly budget covering all HR-related expenditures.
  • Develop and maintain an employee handbook that contains all employment-related policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as required.

    • Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams and Outlook.
    • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn Zenefits, OL Reign's current HRIS solution. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
      • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field required; Master's degree preferred.
      • At least five years of human resource management experience required.
      • Experience in professional sports preferred.
      • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP highly preferred.
      • Completion of SafeSport training required as condition of employment.
