Summary: Responsible for the daily operation of the retail and salvage departments, managing the store expenses, systems, functions, to ensure the store is achieving standards for all programs and procedures of the retail stores in Goodwill of the Olympics and Rainier Region. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. * Be certified for all keyholder responsibilities and be able to perform all opening and closing procedures and responsibilities. * Ensure that the store audits are maintained at an acceptable level. * Is the security captain for the location, works in cooperation with the Store Manager and LP to protect company assets from internal and external theft. * Monitor all safe procedures and insures all cash handling procedures are per policy. * Is the lead for all supplies and the orders needed to maintain the function of the store while maintaining expense to budget, monthly, as well as annually. * Ensure that payroll expenses are in line within budgeted parameters. * Ensure that all wage requests and payroll timekeeping is up to date for all employees. * Is responsible for staffing and scheduling of retail and salvage personnel. * Is responsible to ensure the building and its functions are properly maintained and any requests for maintenance are properly documented and followed up. * Ensure security and safety systems are in working order, including but not limited to door locks, alarms, bank deposits, refunds, vouchers, and incident reports. Management Responsibilities: This Assistant Manager has direct supervision overall retail & salvage supervisors, and those hourly staff who have access to the vault and/or registers. They have responsibility with regard to total store supervision on a day by day basis to meet the needs of the store and its customers. They must carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Goodwills policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Education and/or Experience: High School diploma, GED Language Skills: Must have the ability to read, write, and speak fluent English, second language skills are a plus. Mathematical Skills: Ability to compute basic retail math, and all skills involved in payroll, sales, and expense planning. Computer Skills: Word, Excel, Outlook. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must be able to obtain a Valid First Aid card, with meets OSHA, and WISHA standards within 30 days of hire. Must be able to obtain certification on all equipment needed to run a retail store. Other Skills and Abilities: Basic Bookkeeping, sales, and accounting methods relevant to a retail store. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. Will frequently lift 20-25 pounds, occasionally 30-40 pounds and seldom up to 50 pounds. Must be able to walk or be easily mobile up to 40% of the time. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to work near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
