Physician (Emergency Medicine) Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM),
Washington Located in the beautiful Pacific Northwest on the Puget
Sound, in Washington State, Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM) is near
the city of Lakewood, 10 minutes from Tacoma and 20 minutes from
Olympia, the state capitol. JBLM is situated in a key location
along Interstate 5, allowing easy access to Sea-Tac Airport and to
the deep-water ports of Tacoma and Seattle. Although the Army and

following link: Responsibilities MAJOR DUTIES
1. As the senior staff officer while on duty in the Emergency Room
is responsible for the full range of cases and the immediate
initial recognition, evaluation, care, and disposition of patients
in response to acute illness and injury. Cases and problems include
the very difficult where there is responsibility for recognizing
rare and difficult to identify symptoms. Treatment involves
knowledge and application of new techniques and/or complicated
procedures and advanced and delicate skills. These patients may
have complex combination of medical and surgical problems, often
requiring expertise in the management of drug overdoses, as well as
clinical assessment and forensic implications of physical assault,
rape, suicide and other physically related crimes. Actions taken
and treatment dictated directly affect the course of subsequent
health care provision throughout the patient's hospitalization.
Provides recommendations on additional diagnostic or treatment
procedures in clinical conferences and/or discussions with MAMC
staff physicians. Directs the operation of the Emergency Medical
Services to include residents, interns, medical students, nurses,
paramedics, paraprofessionals, administrative and ambulance
personnel. Is responsible for the administration and teaching of
all aspects of emergency medical care to interns, residents and
other medical personnel while on duty in the Emergency Room. Also
solves problems and oversees problems that may arise in the Acute
Illness Clinic while on duty as the senior staff officer. 2. As a
member of the teaching staff and a specialist in emergency medicine
participates in the continuing medical education and staff
development of residents and interns, both by one-on-one
consultation and didactic lectures. Many lectures are given at
Grand Rounds for Continuing Education Credits. Also serves as a
faculty advisor to an average of four individual residents.

Qualifications Basic Requirements: US Citizenship required Board
Certified/Eligible Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy from
a school in the United States or Canada approved by a recognized
accrediting body in the year of the applicants graduation. A Doctor
of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school that
provided education and medical knowledge substantially equivalent
to accredited schools in the United States may be demonstrated by
permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign
Medical Graduates (ECFMG) (or a fifth pathway certificate for
Americans who completed premedical education in the United States
and graduate education in a foreign country). Candidates must have
a permanent, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in
a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or
a territory of the United States.
