Cascade Regional Blood Services has an opportunity for a
full-time and a part-time Phlebotomist (Donor Specialist I). The
Donor Collections Team is seeking a skilled, efficient and
team-oriented professional to support our community of donors in
their blood donation experience.
Cascade Regional Blood Services is your community blood center.
We have supplied blood to MultiCare Health System hospitals and
health centers in Pierce, South King, and Grays Harbor Counties
since 1946. Along with supplying blood and blood products to our
community, we also perform specialty therapeutic procedures. - We
have donor collection centers in Tacoma, Puyallup, Federal Way, Gig
Harbor, as well as many mobile blood drives.
The Donor Specialist I is responsible for collecting blood products
from our wonderful community of donors. - The DS I performs a
variety of duties including phlebotomy, registration, vitals, donor
interview, and donor recovery. - The DS I labels specimens in
accordance with the SOP and follows all regulatory regulations
(e.g., Food and Drug Administration, AABB and safety guidelines)
for handling of all specimens. The DS I follows infection control
regulations in handling and disposal of biohazard materials. - Work
situations require a high level of phlebotomy expertise. This
position requires a service-oriented individual who can establish
good, positive, and effective relations with all donors and staff,
has exceptional organization skills, pays attention to detail, uses
discretion and good judgment in decision-making.

Essential Job Functions
Perform capillary puncture and venipuncture
Provide superior customer service to all donors
Communicate in a professional manner with all Team members and
Greet and register donors for blood donation procedures
Verify donor demographics
Check donor vital signs
Clean equipment; dispose of contaminated sharps and biohazardous
waste in accordance with applicable laws, standards and local
Monitor/respond to daily email
Follow the HIPAA privacy and security policy
Perform data entry of patient information in an accurate and timely
Maintain Donor and specimen information logs
Perform other related work as required
Completion of Phlebotomy Certification and/or equivalent experience
Active Washington State Medical Assistant-Phlebotomist (MA-P)
1 year phlebotomy experience preferred
Donor Collection experience preferred
Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Comfortable working under minimal supervision
