We are recruiting to fill one Fish Management Division Manager, located in the Natural Resources Building, Olympia, WA 98501-1091. The Fish Management Division Manager reports to the Fish Program Director. The Fish Management Division in the Fish Program is responsible for ensuring healthy and diverse inland fish, marine fish and shellfish populations. The Fish Management Division provides sustainable commercial and recreational fisheries when conservation objectives for fish and shellfish populations are met. This Division prevents and controls aquatic invasive species in Washington's waters and tracks toxic contaminants in Puget Sound biota. The Fish Management Division Manager leads the statewide Fish Management Division by directing activities for inland fish, marine fish and shellfish for conservation, recreational and commercial purposes. This position provides statewide oversight of fish resource goals and objectives and prioritizes the statewide programs for assessment and management of inland fish, marine fish and shellfish resources. The Fish Management Division Manager is responsible for preserving, protecting, and monitoring inland fish, marine fish and shellfish including: inland fish that originate in freshwater (approximately 8,000 lakes and 30,000 miles of fish bearing streams) to include trout, native non-game species, aquatic invertebrates, and warm water fish species; marine fish and invertebrates of Puget Sound and the Washington coast (approximately 3,500 miles of shoreline, many thousand acres of intertidal clam and oyster flats, and approximately 11,000 acres of state oyster reserves).
