Position SummaryThe Engineering Manager is responsible for the operational performance and long term strategic direction of both engineering and quality processes. Functional areas reporting into the Engineering Manager includes: HMOS Lead, Quality Coordinator, PCI/PDI Engineer, EDP and Reliability Engineer.Plans, organizes, and directs the engineering functions including engineering, planning, mechanical/electrical leads, technicians, with the purpose of increasing overall equipment availability. As the leader of the Engineering Department, the Engineering Manager reports to the Plant Manager.Position ResponsibilitiesManages, organizes, and directs plant engineering functions by: (60%)* Leading the continual improvement of ensuring compliance with corporate quality policies and business objectives to ensure the manufacture of products with superior value.* Leading the continual improvement in regards to waste, speed, and delay design for each product on each machine within the plant to achieve greater than 95% site yield.* Driving collaboration between respective departments that ensures all production and/or quality issues are addressed and resolved.* Measuring sheet machine performance as well as net hours by utilizing data to gauge sustainability.* Developing metrics and reporting systems necessary to track progress and identify key improvement areas across all manufacturing systems;* Building relationships within the JH network to share best practices to ensure effectiveness of processes and eliminating waste of rework or redesign.* Critique and monitor the quality of downtime events with Zero Harm for efficient machine run ability.* Maintaining close contact with the Production Manager, Maintenance Manager and Finishing Manager to ensure effective communication regarding process activities occur with minimal disruption to production operations;* Oversee the identification of the root cause of all production, quality and mechanical down-time incidents;* Communicating individual, department, plant, and corporate engineering performance to all levels of the plant organization;* Recommending and implementing improvements in operational procedures to include production and quality.* Completing 'Gemba' walks in the plant to interact with production, quality, safety, and maintenance to help drive cultural change and to ensure appropriate work is being performed and that customers' needs are being meet.Leads the development, implementation, and sustainability of engineering projects as well as HMOS: (40%)* Support HMOS initiatives by providing leadership and guidance to the designated HMOS Lead.* Reviewing reports and taking appropriate action with regard to daily, weekly, and monthly Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to ensure that the department meets its respective expectations;* Provide oversight and knowledge of technical instruction to all pertinent employees on any relevant process changes or modifications.The position responsibilities outlined above are in no way to be construed as all encompassing.
