in grades 9-12. The successful candidate for this position will

Position: World Language Teacher - French Department: Academics
Supervisor: Principal Salary: $58,097 - $111,257 BENEFITS: A

OVERVIEW: The World Language Teacher at Bellarmine Preparatory
School is responsible for providing high-quality instruction in
world language to students, fostering a positive and engaging
learning environment, and contributing to the overall academic and
moral development of students. The World Language Teacher will
inspire a love for language learning and cultural understanding,
fostering communication skills and global awareness in alignment
with Jesuit values. The teacher should embody the values and
principles of Jesuit education, emphasizing the Ignatian philosophy
of cura personalis (care for the whole person) and the Jesuit
commitment to academic excellence, service, and justice. CORE
FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES: Curriculum Development: Design and implement
a comprehensive and culturally rich world language curriculum that
aligns with national standards and reflects the school's mission.
Integrate Jesuit values and ethical considerations into language
instruction. Instruction and Classroom Management: Conduct engaging
and interactive language classes, emphasizing listening, speaking,
reading, and writing skills. Foster an environment that encourages
students to appreciate cultural diversity and global perspectives.
Introduce students to the cultures and customs associated with the
target language(s). Incorporate authentic cultural materials,
literature, and media into language instruction. Integrate ethical
discussions into language classes, encouraging students to reflect
on cultural sensitivity and the ethical use of language. Explore
social justice issues within the context of the target language
culture(s). Facilitate language immersion experiences, study abroad
programs, or virtual exchanges to enhance students' language
proficiency and cultural understanding. Encourage students to
participate in language-related events, competitions, and community
service projects. Assessment and Feedback: Evaluate student
performance through assessments, projects, and examinations. Use
formative assessment to inform instruction and help students
self-assess their progress and summative assessments. Assessments
designed with the professional learning community. Provide timely
and constructive feedback to students, helping them understand
their strengths and areas for improvement. Student Support: Provide
additional support and guidance to students who may need assistance
with language studies. Mentor and advise students interested in
pursuing further studies or careers in languages and cultural
studies. Jesuit Values: Integrate Ignatian values into daily
interactions and classroom activities. Actively contribute to the
spiritual and moral development of students in alignment with
Jesuit principles. Collaboration and Professional Development:
Collaborate with other faculty members and staff to create a
cohesive and supportive educational environment. Collaborate with
colleagues to create interdisciplinary learning experiences.
Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance
teaching skills and incorporate innovative instructional
strategies. Strong collaboration in professional learning
communities that work towards common goals. Stay current with
developments in scientific research and education. Community
Involvement and Engagement Communicate effectively with parents,
keeping them informed about students' progress and any concerns.
Actively participate in the school's faith community, attending
religious events, Masses, and service projects. Actively
participate in supporting the school's admission efforts Engage
with the wider community to promote the school's mission and
values. Organize and participate in language-related events,
cultural celebrations, and community outreach initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS: Competencies: Proficiency in planning and
implementing curriculum for French 1�4 Ability to teach various
World Language courses and age levels Understanding of educational
theory and practice Ability to teach a range of courses offered by
the department Ability to use current learning management
technology Commitment to working with a diverse student body
Excellent communication skills and a commitment to collaboration
Qualifications Ability to teach French levels 1-4 within the World
Language program Bachelor's or Master's degree in a World Language
(Spanish, French, Mandarin Chinese, etc.) or related field Teaching
certification or relevant education credentials. Previous teaching
experience, preferably at the high school level. Familiarity with
Jesuit education principles and a commitment to Bellarmine's
