OpportunityThis opportunity as a Controller, in Tacoma, Washington
is perfect for an experienced Accountant with strong leadership
skills!The person in this position will be a highly competent and
motivated individual who thrives in a fast-paced and demanding
environment. They will have solid experience with cost accounting;
managing monthly accounting close process to tight deadlines (2
weeks or less); delivering timely, accurate, and beneficial
financial and operational reports; performing financial analysis;
handling cash management; and overseeing accounts payable /
accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll, budget and
forecast/projections. Solid experience with cash management and
treasury are important, as are maintaining relationships with our
banks, external auditors, and tax accountants while ensuring
compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and requirements.The
ResponsibilitiesEnsures accurate and timely cost accounting
activities including Work-In-Process, accruals, and journal
entriesHires, supervises, coaches, develops, retains, and
prioritizes the work of the accounting teamEstablishes and
maintains effective internal controls and safeguards for invoicing,
cash receipts, purchase orders, invoices, expenditures, and program
budgetsProvides clear, concise, accurate, and timely monthly,
quarterly, and annual financial statements and operational metrics
reports, produced within 2 weeks or less of month endConsistently
analyzes data to identify and report on potential
issues/opportunitiesMonitors progress and changes and keeps senior
leadership abreast of financial statusAssist leadership team in the
annual budgeting and planning processAdministers and reviews all
financial plans and compares to actual results with a view to
identify, explain, and correct variances as appropriateCoordinates
all compliance and financial audit activityEffectively utilizes
Company ERP/accounting system (currently Viewpoint/Vista)Ensures
preparation for and supervises year-end auditsEnsures staff produce
accurate and timely reconciliations to include bank accounts,
taxes, sales, liability expenses, revenue, work-in-process, and job
costingReconciles complex ledger accounts and contract
informationParticipates with leadership and strategic
planningDevelops, modifies, reviews, and implements accounting
procedures and controlsEnsures compliance with financial policies
and GAAPThe NecessitiesBA in Accounting or related5+ years of
construction experience5+ years of experience effectively using
ERP/accounting software systems7+ years of supervisory experience,
fully responsible for accounting and finance for an
organizationValid enhanced driver's licenseStrong analytical,
problem-solving, and time management skillsAdvanced knowledge using
ExcelStrong knowledge of GAAPStrong oral and written communication
skillsAbility to clearly communicate accounting information to
non-accountantsGreat to HavePublic accounting experience is
